Math coach's strategy
Write down what you know and what you need to find.
Choose the relationship or operation, showing each step.
Check whether the answer and its units make sense.
③
More worked examples — step by step
Work from a basic skill to a harder example. Every solution shows the method, the answer, and a way to check your thinking.
④
Apply it in real life
Real problems are not always written like textbook exercises. Read the situation, decide what is needed, and try it before revealing the solution.
⑤
Ready to try?
Practise with instant marking, optional hints and explanations. Wrong answers help your next review focus on what needs work.

Learning & voice settings
Choose how BrightSteps sounds and save your progress.
Ryan — UK neural voice
Ryan (en-GB-RyanNeural) is preferred. A local British voice is used when Azure Speech is not connected or internet is unavailable.
Ryan uses Microsoft Azure Speech when configured by the site owner; audio text is sent securely to Azure for synthesis. Without Azure configuration, browser speech synthesis is used where available. No speech audio is stored by BrightSteps. Voice recognition is separately controlled by your browser.
Profiles & your data
Each learner has separate course progress. Data stays in browser storage unless you export it.
Importing a backup replaces BrightSteps 2026 learner data. Older BrightSteps profiles are read when possible, but original app progress is not overwritten.
Curriculum guidance
Alberta Grades 5–6: implemented provincial curriculum. Alberta Grades 7–9: teaching based on the current curriculum with selected broader enrichment topics; optional 2026–27 pilots are not represented as required. Grade 10: Mathematics 10C. Catholic schools use the same provincial mathematics outcomes, with optional school-specific contexts. JSS2 follows the chapter structure of the supplied Learn Africa teacher’s guide (2023). Primary 5 remains a separate international pathway.
